Our People


Bob Wormald  Founder and Chairman of the Board Bob Wormald is a leading visionary in the building industry, having amassed a career of over 50 years of design and construction innovation and excellence. Bob served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a structural engineer during the Korean War. After heading up the Design Department at Carl Freeman, he started Robert K. Wormald, Inc., in 1964 in Potomac, Maryland. Among his milestones, Bob Wormald is credited with designing and developing the first Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND) of the region. He is a registered civil engineer and land surveyor and has particular expertise in land planning and building design. Bob has been active in regional planning with the Urban Land Institute, in the promotion of better land planning with the National Association of Home Builders, and at the state level has helped in drafting new legislation for building code reform. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Central Union Mission, Washington, DC's oldest homeless shelter. He is also an avid painter. Robert K. Wormald, Jr.  A partner in The Wormald Companies, Robert is also the President of Robert K. Wormald, Inc., and a general manager of several projects within The Wormald Companies. He has 25 years experience in the building industry, beginning in 1982 after graduating from Dickinson College. Robert oversees the land development and residential construction operations of the Wormald Group. He is two-time Vice President of the Frederick County Builders Association and a member of the National Association of Home Builders Builder 20 Club. He has worked on several Habitat for Humanity homes and Christmas in April projects. He holds homebuilder licenses in Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania and holds his Maryland Home Improvement Contractors license. He also serves on the board of directors for two homeowners associations. A widely respected coach of boys' soccer in the Frederick area, Robert lives with his wife and three children in Ijamsville, Maryland.


Edward E. Wormald, P.E.  As General Manager of the Wormald Companies, Edward is responsible for the corporate operations, financial management, legal, engineering, new business development, leasing, commercial design, and commercial construction for the Wormald operation. With 23 years of design and construction experience, Edward leads the company in its office, retail, multifamily, and mixed-use development sectors. As a senior professional engineer, he provides an extensive background in the design and construction of large, multi-million-dollar commercial, municipal and residential projects. He lives with his wife and six children in Leesburg, Virginia.


Ken Wormald, CMP, IRM, Realtor  Ken is a partner in the Wormald Companies, broker of Wormald Realty, Vice President of Wormald Homes Inc., and Vice President of Robert K. Wormald, Inc. He is active in new business development, land planning, product design and development, marketing, and sales operations management. Ken's areas of expertise include market and feasibility analysis; proforma analysis, land acquisition research and analysis; professional sales staff recruitment and management; and product definition, including product mix, design, positioning, features, and pricing for all product lines. Ken is active in various building industry associations, serves on the board of directors of two homeowners associations, and has served on the executive committee of the Urban Land Institute, Baltimore. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Communications from the University of Richmond, an M.A. from Regent College, and an M.S. in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University. Ken has served as a human rights and religious freedom correspondent in the office of U.S. Congressman Christopher Smith and currently serves on the board of directors of the Fourth Presbyterian School, where he chairs the development committee. He resides with his wife and three children in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
